Clarence was born at the home of his parents in Chicago, IL at 1141 Millard Ave. His father, Ozro E. Mansur (1865 - 1945) of California had moved there to work in the stock yards after marrying his mother, Helen Arlene Brownell Mansur (1871 - 1952) in Nebraska.

The family returned to California before the turn of the century and are shown in Santa Ana, Orange, CA in the 1900 Federal Census. Clarence married Olive Ethel Crane in that city on Sep. 10, 1910. They started their family in Huntington Beach, Orange, CA.

Clarence began his farming career by selling excess milk from the family cow while working as a grocery clerk. This led to a dairy and funds to purchase a larger ranch in Hemet, Riverside Co.,CA, where he had moved by 1920 (per U.S. Census).

The Hemet ranch was famous for chickens and eggs, processed on site and, by the late 1940s, when the farm became electrified, delivered far and wide in refrigerated trucks. Alfalfa, corn and watermelon were the main crops, supplementing dry-farmed wheat and barley grown in the 1920s and 1930s.

Clarence had the help of his sons as adults, with Keith responsible for keeping the equipment running as a welder and mechanic, Carlton in charge of outside operations and Robert handling sales. Clarence maintained the office (and paid his grandsons to hunt gophers). His daughter, Gertrude married neighbor Robert Collins and moved to Walnut Grove, Sacramento Co., CA, where they had pear orchards.

After Clarence died in 1952, the ranch was sold, with the proceeds going to his widow, Olive. His sons moved on to new employment. - Darrell Mansur (grandson)
