In 1866 Sarah married Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General Allen Latham Anderson. He was the son of Charles Anderson, a one time governor of Ohio, and a most loyal Union sympathizer.
Latham and Sarah had one daughter, Mary Louisa. She was born in 1870.
Part of the will of Latham's father states that Latham and his family are living in North Carolina in 1895.
Sarah is mentioned in several newspaper articles as living with her parents in Pittsboro, NC. through the 1880's. Daughter Mary Louisa attended Chapel Hill University in the late 1890's.

Sarah died in 1934 in Westchester County at the age of 90.
Her remains were cremated and shipped to North Carolina to be interred in the family plot.
