Bert F. Carlson. 59, of rural Lafayette, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 16, at Sioux Valley Hospital in New Ulm.

Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Lafayette, with burial in Clear Lake Baptist Cemetery with military graveside rights.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; sons James L. of Lafayette and Dale B. of New UIm; daughter Carol of Lafayette: four step daughters, Mrs. Steven Shirz of St. Paul, Mrs. James Lowgendyke of St. Paul, Mrs. Kurt Kohn of Aberdeen, Wash., and Mrs. Dale McKee of Aberdeen, Wash.; step-sons Walter Martius of St. Paul and James Martius (in the service); brother Jewel of Bruce, S.D.; sisters Mrs. Vincent (Jeannette) Peterson of Pierz, Mrs. Edgar (Dora) Hoppenstedt of Minneapolis and Rose Peterson of Steger, Ill., and 18 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna, Nov. 29, 1965; brothers Roger, Philip, Delphin and Lloyd; and sister Violet.

He was born June 14, 1924, in Severence Township, rural Gibbon, to John and Beda (Holmquist) Carlson. He was married to Edna Johnson March 2, 1946. He was married to
Marjorie Martius Sept. 17, 1966, in Willmar.

He farmed in Cornish Township most of his life. He was in the Marine Corp for four years, serving in the South Pacific in World War.

Dalin Funeral Home in Winthrop was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
