Maxine Means, age 79, of Meta, passed away Friday, July 23, 2010 at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility in Jefferson City. She was born in Iberia on April 28, 1931, daughter of the late Lawrence and Sarah (Dake) Wilson. On April 24, 1948, in Vienna, she married Arthur Means, who survives at the home. Maxine attended Faith Tabernacle Church near Iberia.

She is also survived by her son, Randy Means and wife Dolores of Jefferson City; one daughter, Betty Means of Meta; five grandchildren, Stacy Sinor of Jefferson City, Woody Sinor of Meta, Maxine Wagner of Meta, Stephanie Woodruff of Mokane, and Jodi Nichols of Jefferson City; thirteen great grandchildren; and one brother, Marvin Dake of Iberia.

She was preceded in death by three children, J.L. Means, Connie Means, and Sandra Sinor; and four brothers and sisters, Redus Wilson, Benny Wilson, Shirley Copeland, and Irene Fitzgerald.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., with services immediately following at 11 a.m., on Monday, July 26, 2010, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Meta. Rev. Duncan Skiles will officiate. A private family interment will be in Stokes Cemetery near Meta. Memorial contributions are suggested to Stokes Cemetery.
