Robert was born in Red Hook, NY in 1854. His parents were Robert W. Coon Sr. and Elizabeth Decker Coon. They both died before he was 7. He moved to Canada and worked in Stratford, Ontario, Canada, marrying Alison Davidson in Toronto on 29 Sep 1881. They had 8 children. They moved to Chatham, Columbia Co, NY in 1897, then to White Plains in 1906. He was a contractor and built many homes in White Plains.
