STANFORD HOLLY HUNT
Stanford Holly Hunt, 73, passed away Saturday morning, September 28,2002 at home. He was born at home on Baldy Mountain Road, Sandpoint, Idaho April 29, 1929 to Ralph H. and Carrie E. (Timblin) Hunt.
Although he died less than a 1/2 mile from where he was born he had lived a full life, graduating the 8th grade, from the old North Star School, on Pack River, Idaho he went to work in the logging camps of the area.
He joined the Army at the age of 17, serving with the 88th Inf. Div. in Treiste, Italy as a part of the Army of Occupation from 1946 to 1949. Upon his discharge he returned to Sandpoint and to the work he loved, driving truck in the logging camps of North Idaho, he married Colleen Donna Pierce, May 5th 1950 in Plains, Montana, he then spent the next 40 years hauling logs in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and California until he had to retire in 1990. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, picking Huckleberrys, and hiking. He was a member of the Sandpoint, Eagles Lodge for more than 20 years and enjoyed sitting around and talking about the old days when the trees were big and the roads narrow.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Harold ' Hi ', Emery, Herbert ' Bo', Stanley,and Gerald Hunt, five sisters Mildred Burford, Mary Jane Joseph, Gertrude Iverson, Ellen Johnson, and Delores Sines; one son Steven A. two grandsons Trampis L. Hunt, and Vincent D. Mancuso.
A memorial service will be held at the VFW Hall Sunday 13 Oct 2002. Interment will be in Clark Fork Cemetery Clark Fork, Idaho.
