Impressive funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon over the remains of Peter Brandt of Chisago City, who succumbed at the home of a daughter in Minneapolis early last Thursday.

The rites opened at the family home at 1:30 pm at the Swedish Methodist Episcopal Church of Lindstrom at 2:00.

Rev E. A Wahlqquist and Rev. C. E. Magnuson of Minneapolis former pastor here officiated and burial took place at Fairview Cemetery.

One hymn was sung at the home by A. F. Oberg and two fitting selections were sung at the church services. Rev. Wahlquist chose the text for his funeral sermon Luke 2:29-30 and Rev. Magnuson spoke “I am the Resurrection and the Life”.

Pallbearers who escorted the remains to their final resting [lace were Otto Carley, John Carley, Oscar Blomquist, Charles Anderson, Carl Johnson and August Oberg.

Peter Brandt was born in Vexio, Smaland, Sweden, on August 17, 1854. At the time of his death he was 79 years, 8 mo., and 7 days of age. When he was only 17 years of age he left Sweden and came to America, first making his home in the Center City community.

On March 9, 1878 he was joined in marriage to Cecilia Swenson and the couple made their home on a farm 3 ½ miles north of Lindstrom, now occupied by a son. There they resided until 1906, when they moved to the home half a mile east of Chisago City, where they have since lived.

Mr. and Mrs. Brandt celebrated their golden wedding anniversary two years ago in the Swedish M. E. Church of Lindstrom. Mr. Brandt joined the local congregation in January 1887 and has remained a faithful member ever since.

Early this year he commenced to fail in health and strength. On March 23 he was taken to Minneapolis for medical treatment while suffering from cancer. He was confined to the Abbot Hospital there about a week and later removed to the home of his oldest daughter, Mrs. G. A. Anderson. There he was cared for until he passed away early Thursday, April 24.

Surviving are his aged widow, 8 children, 20 grandchildren, 3 brothers, many other relatives and a wide circle of friends. The children are: Mrs. G. A. Anderson, Minneapolis; Mrs. Peter Harvey and H. L. Brandt of Minneapolis; Henry E. Brandt, North St. Paul, William Brandt, Lindstrom; Mrs. J. F. Johnson, Chisago City, Mrs. C. B. Bloom, Coeur d'Alene, ID and Mrs. A. Fredstedt, Hastings, MN.

The three brothers who survive are as follows: John Brandt, Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota, frank Brandt, Stacy and David Brandt, Chisago City.
