Herman Ludwig Brandt was born November 8,1894 on a farm near Lindstrom, the son of Peter and Cecilia Brandt.
During his boyhood he attended District 12 school.
On Oct 17, 1925 he was married to Ruby Palm and made their home in the City of Minneapolis.
From 1936 until 1944 he served as a machinist and later as production manager at the Continental Machine Company in Minneapolis. Mrs. Brandt was a World War I Vet and served as a machinist mate in the Navy.
In 1944, the Brandt's moved to Lindstrom. In 1948 he engaged in grain farming in Dodson, Montana.
He was forced to retire because of poor health in the spring of 1953 and they moved to Mesa, Arizona, where they have made their home.
Death came in the Veterans Hospital in Mesa on October 11 after a long illness.
Survivors include his wife Ruby, a brother Henry E Brandt of Nisswa, Minnesota, four sisters, Mrs. Emma Anderson, Mrs. Andy Harvey of Minneapolis, Mrs. Ruth Johnson of Chisago City. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
The details of the funeral were submitted as follows: Burial was at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor John C Blackford officiating. The services took place at the First United Methodist Church in Lindstrom on Friday, October 16 at 1:00 Rev Blackford officiating and music by Rev and Mrs. Marlan Johnson of St Paul accompanied on the organ by Miss Margaret Gassler. Pallbearers were: Virgil Brandt, Robert Brandt, Roland Brandt, Durward Jonson, Walt Frestedt and William Hogan. Military services were conducted by Lindstrom American Legion Post No 83.
