One of the oldest pioneer ladies in the community passed away at 12pm on Saturday evening when death came to Mrs Peter Brandt of Chisago City due to the infirmaties of old age. She was 80 years old and 13 days.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the local ME Church and burial was made at the Fairview Cemetary. Rev EA Wahlquist and the new pastor Rev Verner Birch officiated at the ceremonies. Services were conducted at 1:30 at the Chisago City home and at 2:30 from the local church, Pallbearers were Oscar Blomquist, Peter Anderson, Charles Anderson, Peter Lindgren, John Nelson and Otto Carley.
Mrs Peter Brandt whose maiden name was Cecilia Swenson was born in Blekinge, Sweden, September 18, 1852 and came here with her parents when only 5 years old. They settled on the place what is known aas the Bernard Swenson farm north of Lindstrom 75 years ago. She received her early training in the community and attended public schools. When she reached maturity she was joined in marriage to Peter Brandt on March 9, 1878 at St Croix Falls, WI. They have lived together for many years having farmed a few miles north of the old farm home of Mrs Brandt on the present William Brandt farm. Twenty five years ago the couple retired from farming and lived between Lindstrom and Chisago City. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary four and a half years ago. Mr Brandt passed away 2 years ago. Mrs Brandt leaves to mourn the loss, eight sons and daughters they are, Mrs AG Anderson and Mrs Peter Harvey of Minneapolis, HE Brandt of North St Paul and Mrs CB Bloom of Court DeLane Idaho, William Brandt, Herman Brandt and Mrs JE Johnson of Chisago City and Mrs A Frestedt of Shafer. Two brothers and two sister survive. They are Mrs Charles Johnson and Ed Swenson of Lindstrom and Mrs William Almberg, Chisago City and Swen Swenson, Stacy. She also leaves a host of relatives and friends. Mrs Peter Brandt whose membershp in the local ME Church dates back to January 1887, she is one of the oldest members in that church and has alwasy been a woman of faithful and Christiaan character.
