She was the daughter of Fielding "Dick" Bennett (1828-1900) who was born in Kentucky and died in Adair County, Missouri; and Pembrook (Campbell) (Smith) Bennett (1838-1920) who was born in Missouri and died in Louisiana.
Lovena and her brother William (1878-1878) who died as an infant are buried in the same grave at Bear Creek Cemetery. William was the first to be buried in the Bennett plot which no doubt their father purchased. Eventually, seven Bennetts would be buried in this location: William, and Lovena, their father Fielding Bennett, their grandmother Lydia (Asbell) Bennett, their aunt Mary Polly Bennett, their uncle Ezekiel Bennett, Jr., and his first wife Fanny.
