Funeral services for Mrs. Sophia Busse Meier, a lifelong resident of this area, were held February 1 in St. John Evangelical Lutheran church, Elk Grove township, with Rev. Waldemar B. Streufert officiating, Black's Memorial home was in charge of the funeral arrangements and burial was in St. John cemetery.
Mrs. Meier, late resident of 705 S. Busse rd., was born in Elk Grove township November 20, 1869. She was confirmed in St. John church in 1883 and married in the same church in 1889 to George Meier. The couple made its home on a farm in this area until moving to Mt. Prospect in 1926. Mr. Meier died in 1952.
Surviving are 3 sons: William L., Louis and Edwin Meier; 2 daughters: Mrs. Christine Busse and Mrs. Selma Deeke; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers: George, Louis and August Busse; and a sister, Mrs. Christine Behrens. She was also preceded in death by a son, Raymond.
