HUGE CROWD PAY TRIBUTE TO MOTHER OF COUNTY COMMISSIONER WM. BUSSE

Prominent County and City Officials Attend Funeral of Mrs. Christine Busse, 87 Years Old who Leaves 132 Direct Descendants

Christine Busse, nee Kirchhoff, was born in Schulenburg, Hanover, Germany, on the 25th of February, 1847. There as a child, she was baptized in the name of the Triune God. Her family emigrated to the U.S. in 1852 and settled in Cook county, Illinois. She attended school and was confirmed in the Lutheran church in Elk Grove township. April 16, 1863, she was united in marriage to Mr. Louis Busse and lived with him on the farm in Elk Grove where she, as a true pioneer mother, toiled for and reared her family. 31 years ago they removed to Mt. Prospect where her husband died shortly after their coming, Dec. 19, 1903, leaving her a widow for over 30 years. For 22 years she has resided with her oldest son, William. Always alert and active, she took great interest in all endeavors, especially her family and her church were dear to her. During the last years of her long life, her desire was to depart and be with her Lord. The Master heard her prayer and fulfilled it last Saturday when she went to sleep softly and peacefully, after just two weeks of debility. March 10, 1934, the Lord took her soul to Himself in heaven. Her earthly pilgrimage endured for 87 years and 15 days.

Those who will honor her memory are 6 sons, 3 daughters, 2 sons-in-law, 5 daughters-in-law, 1 brother, 3 sisters-in-law, 53 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and great number of other relatives and friends.

(The following text has many unreadable parts):

The funeral service was held at St. Paul's Lutheran church on March 13, where a great concourse of relatives and friends showed their respect and love to the departed. By her request, Mother Busse was carried to her last resting place beside her husband in the Lutheran cemetery at Elk Grove by the loving hands of her six sons. Pastor J. E. A. Mueller preached (unreadable text).

The Ladies aid of St. Paul's church sang the hymn, "Was Gott tut...(written in German and very unreadable). And the assembly intoned the hymn she loved so well, "Jerusalem, Thou City (unreadable), Would God I Were in Thee."
