Daughter of May and Frank Day. Age 5 moved with parents to Salem, WA. Father killed in railway accident when she was 12; a year later the family returned to Onaga, KS where Bertha remained the rest of her life.

Married E. Colonel Carl on 06 Dec 1907. Active member of Onaga Congregational Church. Memorial services there with interment in Onaga Cemetery.

Survived by her husband, and children: Frances (Clifford G.) Snyder and Mary (Barcley) Rowles of Topeka; Ralph of Spokane, WA; Donna Lee (Lawrence) Valburg, Nate, Grayson and Earnest, all of Onaga. Also sisters Blanche Crum of Onaga and Rose Sumner of Emporia. Sister Opal Grover preceded her in death.
