Obituary of Harriett Shaneyfelt Trueblood
Mrs. Harriett Elizabeth Trueblood, 89, 833 E. Water St., Portland, died Wednesday afternoon at the Jay County Hospital. She had been in failing health for several months.
Born July 8, 1883 in Jay County, her parents were Daniel and Nancy (Loy) Shaneyfelt. On Aug. 22, 1900, she was married to Thomas Trueblood, who died Nov. 14, 1955.
Mrs. Trueblood and her husband operated a grocery store in Portland for more than 33 years before retiring. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Della D. Snyder, RR 5, Decatur and Mrs. Virgil (Nilah) Hampshire, Portland; two brothers, John Shaneyfelt, Union City and Adam Shaneyfelt, Portland; one sister, Mrs. Gertrude Gorsline, Vicksburg, Mich.; four grandsons, 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will take place Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at The Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home, Rev. J. Robert Boggs will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Park Cemetery. Callers will be received at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Friday.
