Mrs. Emma R. Smith, 42, of R. 5, Columbus, died Thursday morning at Bartholomew County Hospital in Columbus. She was a native of Monroe County and a former employee of RCA in Bloomington.

Born May 6, 1925, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of John H. and Nancy Jane Hall. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church, and had been employed at RCA in 1945-46.

Surviving are her husband, William T. Smith; four daughters, Mrs. Jack (Nancy) Taylor of Columbus, and Cathy, Elvadean and Ruth, all at home; four sons, Norman of Columbus, and Gary, James and Steven, all at home; and four grandchildren.

Also surviving are three half-sisters, Mrs. Alice Pardue and Mrs. Meriel Moore of Springville, and Mrs. Ina Maule of 1218 W. 6th St. in Bloomington; and five half brothers, Abraham Hoff of R. 5, George Lawyer of R. 7 and Minor Laywer of R. 6, all in Bloomington, and Albert Lawyer and William Hall, both of Madison.
