ALICE MARGRETTE (LAWYER) PARDUE GONCE

Alice Margrette Lawyer was the daughter of Elias (Delios per obituary) Lawyer and Nancy Jane (Pelfree) Lawyer. Alice married Thomas Romie Pardue on August 22, 1927 in Lawrence County, Indiana. Romie and Alice had two daughters, Thelma Irene (Pardue) Fowler and Margrette Esther (Pardue) Kearns. Romie signed his name "Thomas R. Pardue" on his marriage application and is listed as Thomas Romie Pardue on his marriage record. (His daughter Margrette also gave her father's name as Thomas R. Pardue on her Social Security Application.)

Alice married John Dean Gonce on May 27, 1979 in Monroe County, Indiana.

Alice was the widow of John Dean Gonce at the time of her death and was buried with her first husband. John Dean Gonce is buried with his 2nd wife, Ruth (Baugh) Gonce.

Services for Alice M. Pardue Gonce, 75, of Bloomington, who died Wednesday at her residence, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Allen Funeral Home with Brother L.K. Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Born Aug. 5, 1911, in Morgan County, she was the daughter of Elias and Nancy Lawyer. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Thelma I. Fowler of Bloomington and Margrette Kearns of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one brother, George Lawyer of Bloomington; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Romie Pardue; second husband, Dean Gonce; her parents; two brothers, Albert Lawyer and Minor Lawyer.
Friends may call until 4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
