Royal Norman Marlett, son of Benjamin Franklin Marlett and Fidelia Arnold was born May 11, 1851 at Napoli, Cattaraugus, New York.
NOTE: Pennsylvania Death Certificate 78797 for Royal Norman Marlett by Informant (son) Frank H Marlett erroneously identifies Father as George Marlett b-France and Mother as Unknown b-Pennsylvania.
We believe that Royal Norman's father, Benjamin Franklin Marlett went to Kansas between 1853-1855 with the Barton Snyder/Snider family from Illinois, however, that is based on Marlett Family stories and not verified by census records. In the 1855 NY Census, Fidelia Arnold Marlett and children are found with Fidelia's parents in Napoli NY. In 1860 Fidelia Marlett, Royal Norman and sister Martha are enumerated in Elk Twsp, Warren, PA. We believe that his mother Fidelia died soon thereafter. We find Royal Norman in the 1870 Census with his grandparents Rev Thomas and Rebecca Arnold.
Royal Norman married Ella Jane Williams July 1, 1871 at Russell, Warren, Pennsylvania by Ella's stepfather, Jason Andress Esquire, Justice of the Peace. She died December 24, 1929, at that time they were living at 812 Livingston Avenue in Warren PA. Royal Norman died August 12, 1940 at Warren, Warren, PA and buried with wife at the Pine Grove Cemetery outside of Russell, PA.
An interesting notation found at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~dmckinsey/David/d39.htm#P758 says that Royal Norman Marlett had a long white beard at the time of his death. This is interesting, because our family MARLETT/DURLER archives contains a portrait of, who we believe is Royal Norman's father, Benjamin Franklin Marlett (my GG Grandfather), also with a long white beard at the time of his death in 1902.
