John B. Marlett, 77 years old, died early Sunday at the home of a son, Ben Marlett, 1 1/2 miles east of Baxter Springs. He had been a resident of near Miami for 25 years.
Also surviving are a son, John (should be James V.)Marlett of Fort Lyons, Colo., and a daughter, Mrs. Clara Henry of Moulda (should be Malta), Mont.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Marlett home, seven miles east of here. Burial will be in the Lowell cemetery under direction of the Lane Funeral Home.

NOTE: Gravestone engraved with DOB of 2/13/1864 and DOD of 2/28/1940...HOWEVER....Family documents and Census records all indicate that DOB should be 2/13/1863....AND since John Barton Marlett's obituary was published on Monday February 26th 1940 and Sunday was February 25th, would indicate that Great Grandpa Marlett died on Sunday 2/25/1940.
