John Freeman, an aged and highly respected of Mont Alto, died very suddenly this morning at 10 o'clock at the farm of Lawrence McFerren. Mr. Freeman left his home at Mont Alto and walked a short distance to the farm owned by Mr. McFerren, North Grant street, Waynesboro, with the intention of taking a quantity of potatoes with him on his return home. He seemed in the best of health and spirits during the entire morning and left the McFerren farmhouse after bidding goodbye to the persons in charge there. When on the lawn of the house and about to enter the road he faltered and dropped to the ground, where he died instantly. Deceased was aged 70 years and had been a citizen of Mont Alto all his life. He was employed in his early life. He was employed in his early life at the Mont Alto iron works and was employed at the Frick shops here for twenty years. He has recently lived retired for a period of two years. Friends at the McFerren farm, which is located but a third of a mile from the center of Mont Alto, summoned Dr. Brosius, but on the latter's arrival the man was pronounced dead. Valvular heart disease was given as the cause of death. Deceased was a member of the Methodist church of Mont Alto and was interested in the movements launched for the betterment of Mont Alto.He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ida (Pogue) Freeman and the following sons and daughters: George, Shepherdstown, W.Va.; Harry, Piedmont, Va.; Louis, Pittsburgh, and Maurice, at home, and is also survived by the following brothers and sister; Edward and McCleland of Mont Alto; Louis, David and Joseph of Waynesboro, and Mrs. Samuel Moser, of Waynesboro.

Funeral announcements have not been completed as yet but will be announced at a later date.

FUNERAL SERVICE :
The funeral of John Freeman, Mont Alto, who died Tuesday, will be held Friday, leaving the home at 11 o'clock in the morning thence to the Methodist church in Mont Alto, where services will be conducted by Rev. Stine, of the U. B. church at Mont Alto. Burial in Rose Hill cemetery.
