Funeral services for Claude Melvin,62, of Forest, Texas are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Arthur DeLoach officiating and internment will follow at Gann Cemetery in Lufkin, Texas.

The body will lie in state at Gipson Funeral Home, Lufkin, Texas.

Mr. Melvin died suddenly Wednesday afternoon, September 8, 1965 at his residence. He was born September 15, 1902 at Pollock, Texas and had resided in Cherokee County most of his life. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include five sisters, Mrs. Hazel Sherman of Maydelle, Texas, Miss Ethel Melvin of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Edith Porterfield of Baytown, Texas, Mrs. Maurine Beasley of Hialeah, Florida and Mrs. Mildred Eaton of Odessa, Texas; two brothers, Gordon Melvin of Texas City and Charlie Melvin of Houston; an aunt, Mrs. Stella Presnal of Lufkin, Texas; uncles, Spence Swan of Rusk, Texas and Jim Swan of Corrigan, Texas.
