Dies at Age 80; Rites Thursday

Frank Z. Bruce, a lifetime resident of Mt. Vernon, died at 4:45 pm yesterday at his home, 500 North Street, after a long illness. He had observed his 80th birthday last Sunday.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 pm at Myers Chapel. The Rev. Bird Green will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.

The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel where friends may call after 4:00pm today.

Mr. Bruce was born October 12, 1872 in Jefferson County, the son of Samuel T. and Marth Jane (Yandell) Bruce. He was married to Carrie Gordon, who survives.

Besides his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Edna Tate, Mrs. Opal Ward, Mrs. Fern Williams and Mrs. Nina Dykes all of Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Wave Warner of Los Angeles, Calif., and one brother Charles E. Bruce of Mt. Vernon. He is also survived by six grandchildren.

One grandson, Robert Eugene Tate, was killed in service in Germany.
