Frances was born Dec. 5, 1911 in Butte, Montana, and raised in Butte and Great Falls. She and Vernon Gleason were married in Helena on April 22, 1929.

Frances worked as a telephone operator when the word came through that Pearl Harbor had been bombed, as a truck driver at the East Base (Malmstrom Air Force Base), and then started her career as a bookkeeper at the Rainbow Hotel, Park Hotel, Allied Van Lines and Great Falls Veterinary Service

She provided a home for several nephews, a niece and her granddaughter, Audrey, and helped to find jobs for many of them. Later in her life, she lived with Audrey and her family for a few years.

Frances was a member of the Catholic church, attending St. Ann's Cathedral for many, many years.

She enjoyed bridge, camping, fishing, travel and sporting events of major leagues, especially the Atlanta Braves. She was an integral part of the family grapevine. She loved watching the events of the children she loved, and she especially enjoyed watching Jeremy's and Christie's sporting events.

Survivors include a daughter, Laverne "Bunny" Ward, of Addison, IL; sister, Marjorie Jiminez, of Long Beach, CA; seven grandchildren: Audrey Sabol, of Great Falls, Michael Ward and John (Jackie) Ward, both of IL, Mary Elizabeth (Rich) Gustafson, of St. Louis, MO, Timothy (Lori) Ward, Jacquelyn Close and Anthony (Sue) Ward, all of IL; 18 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon J. Gleason; a son, Raymond Gleason; sisters: Hazel Mauch, Ruth Butler, Helen O'Connell, Connie Golightly and Audrey Cefro; a brother, Pat Galvin; and a great-great-granddaughter, Mikayla King.

The family suggests memorials in Frances' name to Peace Hos-pice, 1101 26th St. S., Great Falls, MT 59405.
