Mt. Zion- E. Gladys Stone, 72, wife of Lonnie Stone Sr., of Mt. Zion, died at 11:35 a.m. Friday at Ottumwa hospital where she had been a patient with heart trouble since Feb. 10.
The daughter of John and Laura Shepherd Adler, she was born Oct. 1, 1903 at Germanville in Jefferson County. She married Mr. Stone on April 16, 1920. They lived in the Fairfield community until moving to the Douds Selma area in 1945. In 1968 they moved to Mt. Zion.
Surviving: Her widower, two sons, Lonnie Jr., of Floris, and Edward of Keosauqua; three daughters, Mrs. Jane Hudak of Elizabeth, Pa., Mrs. Norma Orman of Floris and Mrs. Betty Steele of Bloomfield; two brothers, Frank Adler of Keosauqua, and Merle Adler of Fairfield; a sister Mrs. Grace Sedlerof of Selma; 21 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral: 10 a.m., Monday at the Bethel Free Methodist Church, Douds, Rev. John Harrell; burial at the Evergreen Cemetery. Fairfield.
Memorials may be made to the coronary care unit at the Ottumwa hospital.
