Gladus Blackburn Thacker

Gladus Crigger Blackburn Thacker, 84, of Huddy, Ky., went home to be with the Lord, Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Ky. She was born Oct. 14, 1922, at Canada, Ky., daughter of the late William Anderson and Maggie (Oney) Crigger. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Walter H. Blackburn; two sons, Michael Thacker and Wade Darrell Thacker; three brothers, Lee, Frank and Henry Crigger; and two sisters, Ethel Smith and Juanita Blackburn. She was retired from Pike County Board of Education and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Jean (Bill) Ferrell of Speedwell, Tenn., and Barbara Ann (Donnie) Williamson of Huddy, Ky.; two sisters, Agnes Blackburn of Sidney, Ky., and Elzie Smith of Canada, Ky. Other survivors include seven grandchildren, Steve (Andrea) Williamson and Todd (Rhonda) Williamson, all of Huddy, Ky., Brad (Tonya) Williamson of Canada, Ky., Duffy (Maria) Ferrell of Canada, Ky., Keegan Ferrell and Tammara Ferrell, both of Speedwell, Tenn., and Shannon (Steve) Leedy of Sidney, Ky. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home at Belfry, Ky., with Donnie and Brad Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery at Sidney, Ky. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Steve, Todd, Brad and Tyler Williamson, Duffy, Keegan and Dustin Ferrell and Steve Leedy. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, and Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at the funeral home. Special services are planned for 7 p.m. nightly.
