Her parents were Mildred Eloise Dorrance and Harry Jones Noerteman. Jane had one sister and one brother-in-law. She had two nieces and one nephew in the 1960's and later three great nieces and two great nephews.
She lived in House Springs, Missouri, her whole life and taught English, American and world history, and government at Northwest High School in House Springs for 30 years before retiring. Jane sponsored the National Honor Society.
She was dedicated to rescuing stray animals, caring for them, and placing them in good homes. After retiring, Jane helped other seniors who could no longer drive.
