Mary died nine years after Harry was born. Edward remarried, left his son, and went to California. Harry was raised by his mother's sister, Helen 'Lena' Thedick, and his dad's brother, Harry Noerteman.
Harry married Mildred Eloise Dorrance on July 30, 1932, in Pinckneyville, Perry County, Illinois. They had two children. Their daughter, Claudia Jane, was born on January 5, 1942, in St. Louis City, Missouri and never married.
Mildred and Harry lived for many years in House Springs, Missouri, and raised their family there. They owned a home outside of town and a store in town.
When Harry died in 1995, he was buried near his wife and his Aunt Lena and Uncle Harry.
By 2003, Harry and Mildred had three grandchildren and five great grandchildren by their second daughter and her husband.
