Alice Marie Smith, 92, of Decatur died 6:22pm Monday (July 19, 1999) in her daughter's home.
Services will be 10:30am Thursday in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation was 6 to 8pm Wednesday. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Alice was born in Mason County on Feb. 27, 1907, the daughter of Elmer B. and Mary Chrans Eddy. She attended Rock Springs Church of God. She worked in the garment industry as a seamstress and was a member of ILGWU. She married George J Smith in Springfield on Jan. 3, 1931. He receded her in death on April 23, 1958.
Surviving are her daughters, Verna Kramer and husband Howard, Doris Dehne and husband Tom, and Carol Galloway, all of Decatur; son, Edward L. Smith and wife Vickie of Warrensburg; brothers, Loren Eddy and wife Rosa Nell of Creve Coeur; Ernest Eddy and wife Frances, and Ivan Eddy, all of Havana; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Harold Eddy; daughter, Mary Charlotte Smith; and granddaughter, Tina Petro Chamblin.
She touched the lives of many and will be missed by all her family and friends.
