Stergis was the oldest son of James McKillip and Susannah Kendall. It is not known for sure where he is buried, but as his father and uncle are in Palestine Cemetery, it may be that he is there and his grave is unmarked or not yet discovered. Stergis appears in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 census with his father and worked as a farm hand helping out on his father's farm. It is unknown why he died, but since so many in the family died in the mid 70s it is a guess that he died from stagnate water disease Malaria was only one of the killers that troubled the settlers there.
