William Oscar McGinnis, 69. 105 Oakland Avenue, died yesterday at 12:30 p.m. at his residence following a short illness.
Funeral services will he held tomorrow at 2:30 p m at White's Chapel Baptist Church with the Revs. Corbie Yother and John Reeves officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Collier-Butler Funeral Home directing.
Active pallbearers will be James Pyland, Homer Garrett, Charlie Nash, Herschel Palmer, Voyles Carroll, and Donnie Garrett.
Honorary pallbearers will include the Revs. L. F. Braddy, Collier Rodgers, and Ervin Turner, Dewey Ross, Grady Palmer, Jim White, Dr. Joe Ford, and members of the adult Bible Class of White's Chapel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Stella McGinnis; three sons, William. Gadsden, Route 3: Fred, East Gadsden; James McGinnis, Jacksonville, Fla., three daughters, Mrs. Estelle Sharpe, Steele, Route 1; Mrs Mildred Connell, Wellington, and Mrs. Dorothy McCain, Gadsden, Route 3; three brothers. A. G. McGinnis, and the Rev W H. McGinnis, Gadsden: and Jim McGinnis, Attalla; two sisters, Mrs. Ophella Daugherty, Gadsden, and Mrs. Carrie Harden, Gadsden, Route 6.
Mr. McGinnis was a retired night watchman at the A & J Foundry. He was a Deacon at Whites Chapel Baptist Church.
The body is to remain at the residence until the hour of service.
