He was a retired carpenter and a native of the Dodson area.
Funeral services were held in Siloam Baptist Church at Gansville at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. D. A. Doughty and the Rev. Louis Moffett officiating. Burial was in Siloam Cemetery.
Survivors include his widow; five daughters, Mrs. E. R. Autry of Texarkana, Ark., Mrs. Frank Wisdom of Baton Rouge, Mrs. Lonnie L. Davis of Ruston, Mrs. W. O. Edwards of Marshall, Tex., and Mrs. Varch Otwell of Wilmot, Ark.; a son, J. W. Sholars of Shreveport; 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; two brothers, Randall Sholars of Edna, Tex., and Louis Sholars of Winnfield; and three sisters, Mrs. A. E. Raywinkle of Shreveport, Mrs. Irene Brown of Baton Rouge, and Mrs. G. M. Walsworth of Ponchatoula.
