J. M. Allen died Monday morning at 12:05 of malignant enlargement of the liver. Funeral from his late residence; No. 22 North Sixth street, at 10 a.m. Wednesday Interment at Earlham. Mr. Allen was about sixty-seven years old and had been long a resident of Richmond. He worked for many years in the harness department at Wiggins & Co. He leaves a wife and six children. The children are all grown and are as follows: Eliza Gaar, wife of Monroe Gaar, of Whitley county, Ind.; Emma Allen, who lives at home; Mary A. Reed, wife of W. W. Reed, a druggist at Winchester, Ind.; Charles F. Allen, married and living at Burlington, Iowa; George C. Allen, unmarried and living at home; and Marian A. Doan, wife of Isaac C. Doan, of this city.

Mr. Allen was a native of North Carolina and came to Indiana with his parents at a very early day. He lived his life in a very quiet, unostentatious way, but very uprightly and creditably; and his death is regretted by all who knew him.
