Edward C. Bye died suddenly at his home near the city on Monday evening [June 22], heart trouble is said to be the cause of his death. Mr. Bye had not been sick and had been in town only the day before. He had been attending to his duties about the farm as usual on Monday and after finishing his work for the day had retired for the night. At about ten o’clock his wife noticed there was something ailing him and she tried to wake him, failing to do so help was summoned and the doctor sent for, but when the doctor arrived he had already passed to the great beyond.
Mr. Bye was one of the prosperous young farmers west from the city and was only about thirty-three years of age. He had been married but a few short years and leaves a loving wife [Sophie Ness] and a young son [Kermit Bertrand Bye]. He also leaves a mother, Mrs. Carrie [Kari] Bye of this city besides brothers and sisters. – Hatton Free Press, June 25, 1914
