Funeral for Roy Garnett, 78, of Decatur will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Tolbert and the Rev. David McKelvey officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Garnett died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997 at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Aug. 8, 1918 in Morgan County to Arthur Garnett and Fannie Grant Garnett. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. He was the widower of Mabel Garnett.
He is survived by one son, Roy F. Garnett of Knoxville; one daughter, Mary Frances Meek of Decatur; one sister, Sadie Barrett of Decatur; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
