SWEAT Wallace Sweat, 72, longtime resident of Jacksonville and Fernandina, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2010. He was born in Ware County, GA, on September 12, 1937.

He was a dedicated employee of Winn-Dixie as a meat cutter for 43 years, mostly in the Southside area. He was a loving husband, father, 'papa', brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 52 years, Jackie, two sons, Derek Sweat and Randy (Beth) Sweat, six grandchildren, Anita , Matthew, Jack, Mark, Nicole, Joe Sweat, a brother Ernest (Nan) Sweat, a sister, Jeanette (Gary) Roegner, numerous nieces and nephews and other dear friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 23, from 3 - 5 pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL. A Celebration of his life will take place at 11:00 am Monday, May 24 in the chapel at the funeral home. Pastor Michael Bowen of Blackrock Baptist Church in Yulee will officiate. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
