Mr. Franklin W. Sweat, 68, of Waycross, died early this morning (Feb. 24, 2003) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Miles-Odum Funeral Home.

Obituary For Franklin Wilbur Sweat

Mr. Franklin Wilbur Sweat, 68, of Waycross, died early Monday morning (Feb. 24, 2003) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born in Ware County to the late Oran Sweat and Pearl (Wainwright) Sweat, he had made his home in Ware County for all of his life.

Mr. Sweat was a lifelong member of Pine Valley Southern Congregational Methodist Church where he served as steward of the church and was also a member of the church choir.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Shirley Corbitt Sweat, Waycross; a son, Chris Sweat; two brothers, Wallace Sweat (wife Jackie) Jacksonville, Fla., and Ernest H.Sweat, Waresboro; a sister, Jeanette Roegner (husband Gary) Jacksonville, Fla., and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Pine Valley Southern Congregational Methodist Church with burial to follow in Camp Branch Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in Manor. The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home. Arrangements are with Miles-Odum Funeral Home.

The funeral of Mr. Franklin Wilbur Sweat, 68, was held Wednesday afternoon at the Pine Valley Southern Congregational Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Scruggs and the Rev. W.D. Corbitt officiating.

Burial was in Camp Branch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Stanley McDonald, Aaron Rozier Jr., Ron Rozier, Ernest Sweat Jr., Brantley Thrift, Charles McDonald and Harry Blount served as pallbearers. Arrangements were with Miles-Odum Funeral Home.
