Mr. Stevens was born in Madison County to the late Hosea and Catherine (Redman) Stephens.
Mr. Stevens had been ill about two years. He was 73 years old and most of his life was spent as a farmer, though in recent years he worked as a carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda, one son, and two daughters.
The son, Clarence, lives at Galveston.
The daughters are Mrs. Vesta York of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Mel Coeur of Nashville, Tenn. Two brothers are Henry of lower Dry Creek and Ruben, of Piedmont. Mrs. James Whitener of Zion is a sister, and he also leaves four grandchildren.
