Mrs. O.N. Yeoman

Mary Elizabeth King, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William King, was born in Mahaska County, Iowa, on December 24, 1861, and died at St. Joseph's hospital in Ottumwa the afternoon of April, 13, 1930, aged 68 years, 3 months and 20 days.

She was married to Orsemus N. Yeoman on October 17, 1880, and to this union eleven children were born, seven of whom are living—Mrs. Stella Mc Beth, Leonard, Harry and Denver Yeoman, Mrs. Frank Ash, Mrs. Lloyd Keasling and Mrs. Walter Martin. Those who passed away were William Cleveland, Arthur, Minta and Bert. Besides her husband and children she is survived by 28 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, three sisters—Mrs. Katie Phillips, of Fairfield, Mrs. Florence Roquet, of Hedrick, and Mrs. Lulu Alderman of Fremont, and many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Yeoman has made her home in this county having spent her entire life within its confines. Until a few years ago she lived in the Olive Branch school district where the family was reared and when the children were grown she and Mr. Yeoman retired from the farm and moved to a home in Fremont. She corresponded for the Gazette from Olive Branch for a period of 35 years.

She has not been having good health for the past year, at times being confined to her bed and other times being able to be up and around the house. Two weeks ago she was worse again and last week was taken to the hospital where she passed away surrounded by her husband and children. She was a member of the U.B. church and lived a loving Christian life. A good wife and mother, a splendid neighbor and a conscientious Christian woman has gone to her merited reward.

The funeral took place at the Fremont M.E. church Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, services being conducted by a former pastor, Rev. Seth Donahue, of Moravia, assisted by H.H. Fletcher of the local M.E. church. The edifice was filled with sorrowing relatives and friends who came to pay their last respects to one whom they had known and loved in life. Interment was made in the Cedar Township cemetery.
