Elmer Wolfe

Mr. Elmer Norris Wolfe, 80, of 800 Michigan Ave., LaPorte, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at 9:05 a.m. at his home.

He was born Aug. 14, 1921, in Tital, Penn., to Alonzo and Edith (Ruth) Wolfe, and had lived here since 1962, coming from San Jacinto, Calif.

Mr. Wolfe retired as an auto mechanic from LaPorte Community School Corporation and formerly worked for Trigg Buick in LaPorte. He was a member of the NRA, Hamon Gray American Legion Post 83, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

On April 20, 1968, in Hanna, he married Juanita Pettigrew, who died May 20, 1999.

Also preceding him in death were his parents, one grandchild, two sisters and four brothers.

Surviving are four daughters, Shirley Wolfe and Vicki Pettway, both of LaPorte, Jody Preihs of New York, N.Y. and Linda Capps of Elwood, Ind.; three sons, Raymond of San Jacinto, James Vair of Antigo, Wis., and Richard Hines of LaPorte; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four sisters; and three brothers.

The funeral was Monday at Essling Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held today at 3 p.m. at Pine Lake Cemetery.
