MOSES LAKE, Wash. Richard Melvin Crites, 62, died at his home in Moses Lake, Wash. Sunday, July 30, 2000 of natural causes.

Crites was born Aug. 12, 1937 in Gildford to Fred Vern Crites and Achsah Ida Huestis-Crites. They farmed at Gildford. Crites took over the farm when his father died.

In 1979, Crites married Dorine May Grove-Crites and the couple moved to Moses Lake where they owned and operated Maples Motel.

Crites was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don Crites, Vern Crites, Warren Crites and Fred Crites Jr.; sisters, Dorothy Kidd, Cleona Poore and Gracie Marie Crites.

Survivors include his wife, Dorine Crites of Moses Lake; children, Vicki Hall, Marla Welch, Debra Dickinson, Weston Dickinson; brothers and sisters, Harold Crites of Vancouver, Wash., Doreen Rudder of Yelm, Wash., Lois Olson of Havre, June Youso of Havre, LaRena Stewart of Havre, Jeanne Johnston of Vaughn; five grandchildren.

Note: Dick wanted no memorial services, to be cremated and his ashes spread over the old farm at Gildford, Montana. This was done by some of his sisters.
