LINCOLNTON - Mrs. Frances Reynolds Smith 72, of Brian Center, Lincolnton, formerly of Pleasant Grove Church Road, Crouse, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998.

Funeral is 4 p.m. Thursday at Gainsville Baptist Church with the Rev. Gordon Schrum officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was born in Lincoln County and worked in the textile industry. A member of Gainsville Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Annie Heavner Reynolds, husband, Wiley Emmitt ''Jack'' Smith Jr., sons, Eddie Smith and Ronnie Smith, and sister, Doris Ingle.

Survivors include son, Charles Smith of Lincolnton; daughters, Faye Boston and Judy Auton, both of Crouse, Barbara Houser of Maiden; brothers, J.P. Reynolds, Gary Reynolds, Paul Reynolds, Gene Reynolds and Johnny Reynolds, all of Lincolnton, Calvin Reynolds of Maiden; sisters, Margaret Ingle and Letha Allran of Lincolnton; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Gainsville Baptist Church, Highway 182, Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Warlick Funeral Home, Lincolnton, is serving the family.
