Atchison, KS - Joseph Henry Meier, 66, died unexpectedly of a heart attack early this morning (July 12, 1955) at his home here. He was born at Nortonville, KS, and lived his entire life in Kansas.
He was a machinist for Locomotive Finished Materials Co. here for 42 years, retiring April 1, 1955. He was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are his widow, Mary; two sons, LeRoy and John Meier, both of the home; three daughters, Mrs Alfred Elias (Rosemary)of Atchison; Mrs William K. Elias (Ruthanna), Sugar Lake; Mrs John Cogan (Bertha), Rushville, MO; four sisters, Mrs. Charles Nolte (Catherine), Valley Falls; Mrs. Glen Browning (Mary), Atchison; Mrs. John Retter (Mary), Glasford, IL; Sister Amata Meier of the Mount Scholastica Convent here; one brother, William Meier, Atchison and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Atchison. Burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Atchison.
