Mrs. Gertrude Owens, 43 years of age, wife of John Owens, 1411 Santa Fe street, died yesterday morning at St. Margaret's Hospital, Kansas City, KS.

Death resulted from complictions following an operation for goiter. She entered the hospital two weeks ago, and underwent the operation last Wednestday. On Friday, pleurisy set in, and her condition became critical.

Mrs. Owens was born at Nortonville, February 26, 1883. Her maiden name was Miss Gertrude Meier, the daughter of Stephen and Christina Carstens Meier. She was married to Mr. Owens, at the St. Patrick's church south of Atchison on November 18, 1903.

Surviving Mrs. Owens are her husband; two sons, Joseph and Harold of the home; two brothers, Joseph Meier and William Meier, 1314 South Ninth street; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Browning, 1131 Santa Fe street; Mrs. Charles Nolte (Catherine) of Seneca; Mrs Charles Chisholm (Anna) of Wyoming, IL; and Sister Amata, O.S.B., Walsenburg, Colo.

Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Church with burial in St. Patrick's cemetery.
