Thomas M. Scales, 76, R. 8. died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Sipes, R. 8, at 8:10 a.m. today. He was a life-long resident of the county and a retired farmer and county highway employe. His wife Lola Jane preceded him in death in 1957. Besides his daughter, Mrs. Sipes, he is survived by a son, Kenneth Scales, Concord, Calif.; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, and a siser, Mrs. Rosa Baxter, Bloomington. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Paynetown Pentecostal Church, with Rev. W.C. Chaftin and Sister Grace Hillenburg, officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Tate will furnish music for the service. Burial will be in Clear Creek Cemetery. Active pallbearers are William Clark, Carl Baxter, Gilbert, James, and Roy Scales, and Billy Shields. Honorary pallbearers are Dan May, Rex Byers, Ancil Eads, Nolan Welch, and Roy Bayne. Flowerbearers are Bessie Ground, Mildred Scales, Evellyn Deckard, Oleva Hill, Holleen Ratts, and Margaret Kenny. Friends may call at the Allen Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today.
