Sarah Ann Scales was born January 29, 1863, and departed this life November 1, 1926, age 63 years 9 months and 2 days. She was united in marriage to John Scales April 12, 1878. To this union were born eight children, William, Thomas, Fred and Shirley Scales, Mrs William Baxter, Mrs Samuel Hollars, and Mary and Spicey who died in infancy.

Besides the husband and six children she is survived by twenty grand children, seven great grandchildren, six brothers and two sisters, and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her death.

She was a member of the Christian church, was always loyal to her church and lived a life that advanced the cause of her redeemer and brightened her prospect for Heaven.

She was a kind wife and a loving mother.

The golden cord is broken,

The curtain rent apart,

A precious soul we dearly loved.
