The first child and only son, John D, was born in Nov 1899 and died in 1902. Josephine (wife and mother) died in 2005. Page 12 of the "Ames is the Name" book by Richard D Ames states, "The wife died in 1905, at which time the daughters were adopted by the Lott family. They moved to Columbus, Ohio."
In David Alva's will, written in 1946, on page #1, he lists 2 daughters: "Pauline Lucille Ames, also known as Maurine, and Helen Ames". He states that they are both married but he doesn't know their married names. Page #2 of his will must be an addendum as there are 2 daughters listed as "Maurine L Waldrip and Amorette C Chase" (could this be Helen?) Page 12 of the "Ames is the Name" book also lists 2 daughters: Josephine Ames, born about 1901, and Charlotte Ames, born about 1903.
