S/O Jabez & Elizabeth (Smith) Ames. Married 1st Frances Craven on 29 Nov 1814 had 12 children; unnamed, James, Mary, William, Elizabeth, Hannah, Leonard, John C., Theophilus, Nehemiah, Julia & Henry. In 1846, Nehemiah moved his family west to Williams and Defiance counties of Northwest OH. In 1848, two sons, James and John C returned somewhat east to Wayne Co. OH where they stayed until just after the 1850 census was taken, when they returned to Northwest Ohio. Frances died in 1855 and Nehemiah married 2nd wife, twice widowed, Sarah Ann (Hulbert) Eyen-Jons on 17 June, 1857 in Williams Co & had 1 child, George. Sarah died just a month before the 1860 census and Nehemiah is listed as a widower, but has several children and grandchildren living with him. On 24 May, 1861, Nehemiah, age 68, married his 3rd wife, 22 year old Eliza Roan in Defiance Co., OH & they had 6 children: Elizabeth (Betsey), Delilah, Ransom I., Henry Leander, Oscar & David A. 3 wives & 19 total kids !!! Nehemiah died in Defiance County and is buried with his first two wives. Third wife Eliza remarried and died in 1912.

***Patty's notes---A link to Nehemiah's parents is nearly impossible, as the church records for the family were probably destroyed in a fire and the private cemetery on a farm near the Pigeon Creek Baptist Church (Washington Co., PA) was turned under, with all markers destroyed.
