Mr. Harrington was a longtime and very dedicated member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Churchand the Solomon Fellowship Sunday School Class. He served for many years on the Administrative Board, most recently as an Honorary Member. He was a very faithful visitor of shut-in members in the various nursing homes throughtout the community and held a very strong attachment to his extended church family.
In addition to his devoted interest in his church, Mr. Harrington was quite interested in genealogy, spending numerous hours tracing ancestors and visiting various cemeteries throughout Middle Georgia. One of his most valued possessions was his collection of books on various counties in Georgia and his memberships in numerous genealogical organizations.
Mr. Harrington was born and raised in Baldwin County, the son of the late Maurice Calhoun Harrington and Willie Lou Harrington. Following graduation from GMC, he moved to Macon, where he spent the remainder of his life. His three brothers, Miller H. Harrington, William Mark Harrington and Ralph T. Harrington, preceded him in death, along with several half-brothers, Glenn Harrington, Felix Harrington, Laurence Harrington, Maurice Harrington and Hugh Harrington and one half-sister, Laurie Marie Harrington.
Survivors include a half-brother, Perrin Harrington of Milledgeville, a niece, Judy Wanner of Americus; six nephews, James Harrington of Byron, Ashley Harrington of Byron, Ashley Harrington of Culloden, Heyward Harrington of Winchester, Ky., William Mark Harrington, Jr. of Roswell, William Harrington of Omaha, Neb., and Ralph Harrington of Milledgeville. In addition, he leaves a number of grand nieces and grand nephews.
