Death entered one of the oldest families in the county Monday night and claimed Felix Harrington, for many years a business man of Milledgeville.
Mr. Harrington passed away following an illness of several weeks. His condition became critical only a few days ago. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at Hopewell church in the presence of a large gathering of relatives and friends. Rev. C.T. Shell, pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. J.S. Thrailkoll, of the Milledgeville Methodist church, and Rev. W.C. Budd, of the Hardwick church, conducted the service and interment was in the church burial ground.
Mr. Harrington is survived by his wife who was Bessie Mae Smith and six children, Edward, Calvin, Billie, Winifred, Josephine and Ruth. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Glenn, Lawrence, Morris, Hugh, Miller, Mark, Guy and Perrin Harrington, Grady, Irby and Charlie Pennington, Mary Elizabeth Pennington, Mrs. Ennis (Clara) McDade and Miss Olive Pennington.
Pall-bearers and honorary escort were: B.H. Brooks, J.C. Cooper, Freddie Wood, Frank Jones, Adam Snipes, Olin Banks, W.H. Arnall, R.C. Radcliff, C.A. Giles, Edward Torrance, W.G. Mr. Harrington was the son of the Late Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Harrington, and was born and reared in west Baldwin county. He came to Milledgeville several years ago and was the owner and manager of the Harrington Vulcanizing Co. He was interested with his brothers in the ownership of Harrington Transfer Co., The Dime Cab Co., Harrington's Filling Station and Harrington's Dry Cleaning and Shoe Repair Co. He was well known throughout the county and had many friends. Mr. Harrington was industrious and was recognized as a successful businessman. He took an active Interest in the work of the Hopewell church and retained his membership there although he left that comumnity a number of years ago.
The great assemblage for the final rites was testimonial of the friendship of many people.
