Obit in The Correctionville News, 5 October 1983, page 6: Roland Irwin Whyte, 69, of Warren, Illinois, died September 24, 1983, at his home after an extended illness. He was a farmer and also was employed by Hermann Implement Company, Warren, and the Warren Auto Company until retiring in 1980. He was a member of the IOOF Lodge in Warren and Freeport Moose Club. Born February 8, 1914, in Iowa, he was the son of Irwin B. and Alta (Law) Whyte. He married Loretta Powell November 14, 1932, in Pierson. Survivors are his widow, one son, Duane of Oklee, Minnesota, one daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Phyllis) Studer of Glasford, his father, Irwin Whyte of Holstein, one brother, Melvin of Sweetwater, Texas, three sisters, Mrs. Ed (Gwen) Grell of Cushing, Dorothy Stoneking and Mrs. Jim (Lucile) Williams both of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by one daughter, his mother and one sister. Services were held September 27, 1983, at Leamon Funeral Home, Lena, with Rev. George Terpening officiating. Burial was at Lena Burial Park.
