Correctionville News, 13 July 1977, page 3: Funeral services for Mrs. Charlotte Huitt were held at the Barker Funeral Home in Holstein on Monday, July 11, 1977, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Ervin B. Schemmel of Cushing officiating. Interment was in the Cushing Cemetery. Charlotte Whyte Huitt, daughter of Irwin B. and Alta New Law White was born September 28, 1920, in Beadle, South Dakota. She lived in Iowa during her childhood and graduated from Cushing High School. She married A.K. Huitt on July 29, 1940, at Denver, Colorado. They lived together at Denver and Sterling, Colorado, and North Platte, Nebraska. She worked for many years in the Nebraska State Clinic at North Platte as a secretary. She moved to Galva, Iowa, in December 1974. This past year due to illness she has been making her home with her sisters, Mrs. Ed Grell and Mrs. Arnold Grell and a brother, Melvin Whyte. For the past several weeks she was a patient at the Marian Health Center in Sioux City. She died on Thursday evening, July 7, 1977, at 8:45 p.m. at the age of 56 years, 9 months and 9 days. Survivors include her father, Irwin of Cushing, two brothers, Roland of Warren, Illinois, and Melvin of Correctionville, three sisters, Mrs. Ed (Gwen) Grell and Mrs. Arnold (Lucile) Grell of Cushing and Mrs. George (Dorothy) Stoneking of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, fourteen nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded by her husband in June 1974, her mother in August 1936 and a niece, Lyla Mae Whyte.
